Today electronic leak detection (ELD) often replaces flood testing and is being used on waterproofing membranes installed on roofs, plaza decks, pools, water features, covered reservoirs and other roofing and waterproofing applications. The ELD test methods (ASTM D8231) are applicable for membranes made of materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, bituminous material, and other electrically insulating materials.
TruGround® Conductive Primer provides the required conductive substrate DIRECTLY below the membrane to ensure valid ELD testing per ASTM D8231-19.

Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) testing confirms the integrity of the waterproofing/roofing membrane installation. This method tests 100% of the waterproofing/roofing membrane versus other “hunt and peck” methods. It can reliably test vertical surfaces, wall junctions, perimeter details and membrane penetrations.
We can pinpoint breaches during membrane installation so repairs can be made immediately. Breach repairs can be re-tested the same day ensuring minimal impact to your construction schedule. We can test up to 40,000 sq. ft. per day.
Other testing methods eventually prove inconclusive on many membrane assembly types. The advanced technology behind JST Development’s testing methods goes much further.
